As I lay my head in your hands I am showing you I trust you.  A hand previously was something I flinched at, something that still catches me unaware.

I am learning that humans failed me but humans also saved me. I am learning to smile and to relax in the company of the humans here at the shelter.

I am learning not to hide in the shadows, not to cower, not to be afraid.

I am learning that I am worth love, being cared for, being told I am beautiful.

I am learning to play, so hold my head up high and to not lower my body in submission.

I am learning above all that whilst there are evil people in this world, there are kind people too.
